Lifetime Hooks Up With Coach Troy

Back on January 24, I spoke to a series of indoor triathlons that Life Time Fitness is doing in 2009. My first ever indoor tri is scheduled for March 8 in Plymouth, Minnesota.

On the heels of that announcement, comes a new one. And it could be huge for Life Time. Here is the detail:

Life Time Fitness, Inc. announced that nationally recognized sports performance coach and trainer Troy Jacobson has joined the Company as Director of Endurance Sports Training. In this role, Jacobson will develop and launch training programs for triathlon, running, cycling and swimming linked to the Company's athletic events and other key regional event. He will also design an in-club coaching program through comprehensive educational programs that emphasize consistency and quality assurance and will create online coaching and training for Life Time members and staff.

In addition, Jacobson will spearhead the creation of the Company's Running, Cycling and Triathlon interest groups. Well known within the triathlon, cycling and running circles, Jacobson began coaching endurance athletes in 1992 and has since established a reputation as one of the top coaches in the United States for single sport and multisport athletes alike. He is credited with revolutionizing multisport coaching as well as elevating online coaching to an unprecedented level of acceptance. To date, he has personally trained more than 1,500 athletes and reached thousands more worldwide via his training media, seminars and coaching network.

"Troy's reputation as an innovator and driving force behind many coaching and training programs will benefit Life Time Fitness members across the country," commented Mark Thom, Vice-President, Fitness Services for Life Time Fitness. "He brings a variety of coaching and teaching experiences to our program and he has the ability to work with beginners as well as elite athletes."

In a recent Coach Troy podcast, Kevin Patrick interviewed the Vice President of Athletic Events at Life Time Fitness, Dave Campbell. Mr. Campbell talks about the mission at Life Time to promote endurance sport participation as well as provide guidance and coaching for athletes of all abilities. It is a very interesting listen.

It sounds like specialized endurance training will be available at Life Time centers in early 2009. Stay tuned.

Haha Idk about awesome, but something like that. I have had cell bio and some other classes like that and I have been pretty fortunate to know the krebs cycle, I love that stuff because it feels applicable to the sport.
