Post Race Mobile Blog

Made it around Lake Harriet in a death defying 22:16 unofficially. Splits at 1M - 6:58 at 2M - 7:26. The ham was OK until about the 2K where it started to be a bit bothersome. So I backed off and was happy to finish. Yeah it was very very very slow. But at least I did not blow the ham completely.

Ice awaits most certainly. I may bike later today to keep everything loose. We'll see.

Happy Valentines Day to you and yours!

Race Day Pre Report

Lake Harriet Valentines 5K and it is 11 above...whoohoo. Hoping the neoprene sleeve allows me to finish. No goal other than that.

Comfort Food

Bad day? Like blowing a hammy? Have a brunch with Bloody Mary, beer chaser, 'bad ass' caramel roll, Eggs Benedict and all will be better.

Then Depression Set In

My injury bug continues. Start went off great with a lead pack of six. Two ruuners took off. I chase covering the first mile in comfy 6:15 then KABLOOEY went the right ham at the 2K mark. I fought for a while and then it really tightened up and the race become a Sunday jog. Finished in miserable unofficial 22:06.

I now have thirteen days to work the hammy back into shape before the next 5K.

To my previous point speaking about the ice....I slipped on ice during warmups and caught myself by jerking the right leg. I wonder if that was it? Cripes...my workouts this week had me primed and I had secretly been hoping for a sub-20.

Hamel 5K Prerace Rpt

The good news is the temp is at 25. The bad....and cause for concern....icy icy icy. The high was 45 yesterday so we had a thaw and everything refroze last night. Also a very stiff wind out of the west. Time to find a big guy for windblock.

Goals will be to finish in low 20s and have a nice speed workout.

Another Day Inside

Minus six. Another day at the club running on the treadmill like a hamster. Oh well....gotta make the best of it. Maybe a speed workout at 6:30 pace will cheer me up?

Mobile Blog Test

This entry is a test of my mobile blog function. I can now email posts from my Treo mobile phone.

Pictured is my indoor trainer setup. This is my city bike and not my racing bike. I like to train using various Spinerval DVDs in my home theater area. That's a 84 inch drop down screen with a Sony projector. Just like being there!

If this works out well my goal would be to post race day updates during the season. Enjoy!
